Neighbours and friends, as you may be aware, a planning proposal has been submitted which seeks to demolish a historically significant building, Audley House (96 Audley rd) on the corner of Audley Road and Graham road, and turn it into a huge development of 9 flats over 4 levels.
The house was built as part of the historic Neeld Estate, by Sir Audley Dallas Neeld, 3rd Baronet, named after the family which gives its name to all the streets in the surrounding area, including Vivian ave, Dallas rd, Algernon rd, Sevington rd, Neeld rd, Elliot rd, and of course, Audley rd.
This house is a significant part of the history of Hendon, and should be preserved.
If you wish to challenge this application, you have until 4 August 2021 to do so.
Many of us feel this area has been relentlessly developed in the last few years, and the noise and disruption of the building project will be substantial. Shoehorning 9 families into a single building in a time when the nation is recovering from a viral pandemic seems very unwise, and many of us are tired of the seemingly constant building noise and disruption.
We are forced to live with more and more people in a finite space, and it's not sustainable.
This huge development is over four floors, and will tower over the other houses in the neighbourhood.
This planning application seeks full planning permission for demolition of the existing property on
site and the erection of a 2-storey building featuring additional accommodation within the Lower
Ground floor level and roof space. Therefore, the property will have a total 4 levels with
accommodation at Lower Ground, Ground Floor, First, and Loft/Second floor levels. The proposal
will provide 9 high quality self-contained residential units. The building has a main entrance point
fronting Audley Road which provides access to the core staircase and proposed units
Will the new flats overlook your home and compromise your privacy? Are you worried about the addition of so many people post-Covid?
Help preserve a part of Hendon's character and let the developers know we want this building kept.
